Support Programs

Civitan has a number of fundraising programs to support our charitable works. Below are our most prominent fundraising projects, which go on to support the Civitan International Research Center and other programs.

If you have any questions about fundraisers, feel free to call our Development Department at 1-800-CIVITAN, ext. 108, or via email at rosemarysmith@civitan.org. Donations are tax-deductible for United States citizens.

President's Council -- This annual giving program, created to secure the Civitan's planned giving program, recognizes each member for their important investment in Civitan's future. Members of the Presidents Council make a monthly donation, with membership levels starting at $10 per month. Donations are tax-deductible for United States citizens, and all members are recognized in that year's Annual Report and invited to the President's Council reception at the International Convention.

To find out more about the President's Council, or to join, please contact the Development Department at 1-800-CIVITAN, ext. 108, or via email at rosemarysmith@civitan.org.

Civitans at the Helm -- Clubs that support Civitan International's charitable programs are recognized through the Civitans at the Helm program. Recognition levels are determined by each  club's average donation per member. The levels are:

  • Helmsman: $10 per member average
  • Navigator: $25 per member average
  • Captain: $50 per member average
  • Admiral: $100 per member average
  • Admiral of the Fleet: $200 per member average

Legacy Society --Civitan's Legacy Society recognizes individuals who contribute to Civitan through a planned gift. Planned giving options include bequests, beneficiary designations of life insurance or retirement plan assets, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and gifts of property. All members receive special recognition, including a lapel pin and an invitation to the President's Council Reception at international conventions.

To find out more about the Legacy Society, please contact Keith Sheffield, Vice President of Development and Corporate Counsel, at 1-800-CIVITAN, ext. 105, or via email at sheff@civitan.org.

Fellows Program -- Civitan clubs or individuals can recognize a deserving Civitan or other special person by making them a fellow. This involves a donation of $1,200 or $2,500, which will go on to fund academic scholarships and support research at the Civitan International Research Center. Click here for more information on the Civitan International Fellows Program (pdf format).

You can also honor someone as a Junior Fellow, Junior Civitan's corresponding program. Click here for more information on the Junior Fellows program (pdf format).

Civitan International Golf Benefit -- Each year, Civitan golfers raise money for research into developmental disabilities at the Civitan International Research Center. The culmination of this fundraising is a round of golf at the Annual Golf Benefit, held each year at the International Convention. There is also a Putt-n-Chip fundraiser at each convention. Click here for more information on this year's Golf Benefit.

Candy Box & Coin Box -- The Civitan Candy Box program is one of the most important fundraising activities a club can undertake. Historically, this program has raised more funds for charitable projects than any other Civitan activity. Click here for more information on the Candy Box and Coin Box programs.

Claxton Fruit Cake -- For decades, Civitans have sold delicious Claxton Fruit Cake to support local charitable projects. Click here to find out how your club can get involve!
